Mental Health Awareness

As Glenn Close says ‘what mental health needs is more sunlight, more candour, and more unashamed conversation’, LIVE Foundation is continuously working to remove stigmas, stereotypes and prejudices regarding mental health prevailing in society and encourage people more on opening up about their emotions. We believe if we start being honest about our pain, our anger, our shortcomings instead of pretending they don’t exist, and our emotions then maybe we’ll leave the world a better place than we found it.

According to a report by the World Health Organisation, 7.5 per cent of the Indian population suffers from some form of mental disorder. Mental illnesses constitute one-sixth of all health-related disorders and India accounted for nearly 15% of the global mental, neurological and substance abuse disorder burden and with such a high number of people suffering the treatment gap is over 70 per cent ironically. People with mental illness do not prefer to consult psychologists and counsellors and choose to suffer in silence because of fear of judgement from others.

LIVE Foundation is extremely glad to be helping in spreading the word of mental fitness and educating people about mental illnesses and disorders. We offer interactive sessions and educational webinars with renowned psychologists to normalise the mental diseases and disorders and conduct drives with people encouraging them to develop empathy and kindness for people suffering through mental illnesses.
